Eagle Mountain House is a scarce landmark (circa 1879) of a quieter era before automobiles. A grand veranda extends for nearly a hundred yards around much of the expansive five-story building. Many antique rockers showcase peace, quiet and fine mountain views. Hiking trails lead to nearby Jackson Falls, where spring-fed waterfalls tumble into rock-lined pools. Other amenities include a large outdoor view pool; 9-hole golf course; tennis courts; plus a health club with fitness center, hot tub and saunas; game room with billiards and ping pong; and a gift shop.
Full breakfast is also complimentary. The grand dining rooms offer contemporary New England fare in a refined setting evoking the Victorian heritage, and there is a warm, cozy tavern for light fare and libations.
All of the comfortably furnished rooms outfitted in casual country decor have views of surrounding woodlands and/or mountains, plus a private bath and all contemporary amenities. Larger suites also have a mini-refrigerator.
